What do you REALLY want?

What do you REALLY want?

It seems like a simple question.

What do you want?

What do you want for your life and your future?

Maybe some of these answers feel familiar?

  • I want to be happy

  • I want to be healthy and safe

  • I want solid relationships and family connections

  • I want to feel fulfilled

Those answers are what most people say when asked that question. It’s that last one, a sense of fulfillment, maybe a sense of purpose, that can be elusive. Or maybe you felt it at one time, and then slowly it started to fade until you woke up one day and thought, “What am I DOING?”

That’s what happened to me.

I had decided at the age of 17 to become a TV journalist in Boston, Massachusetts and I went after that goal with laser-like focus. But along the way, there were moments when I didn’t feel right to me. Moments when I had doubts. Moments when I knew I was living the life I’d dreamed of but didn’t understand why it didn’t feel right.

Recently, I shared how those moments led me to ask myself what I REALLY wanted on the ‘Seize Your Midlife’ podcast.

I loved this conversation because it reminded me that it’s ok to realize the success or outcome you thought you wanted isn’t quite right for who you’ve become along the way. It might feel really freakin’ uncomfortable, but it’s OK!

You can listen to the episode here and I’d love to hear what you think about it!

Maybe it will inspire you to ask yourself what YOU really want?

And if you’re not there yet - what small action could you take TODAY to get just 1% closer to it?
